It will cut through all the way at 0 degrees but when I move the miter to 45 it stops short about a half inch…I have to hand saw the rest of the way. Why won’t it cut completely? It will cut completely at 30 also but not 45.
What am I doing wrong?
actually my husband is trying to figure it out. So before he saws off his fingers out of stubbornness I figured it would be better to ask someone who may know.

I have a GMC miter saw.
Today, I was making a few cuts into 2×4. I made 2 cuts, waited about 10 minutes, then the saw wouldnt start.
I tried other outlets, looked for a damaged cord, etc. I inspected to make sure there were no jams or debris.
Did my motor die? Power cord? I took off the handle and inspected the trigger, seems to work fine, all connections seem to be in place.

I plan on putting up some crown molding in the future and understand how to do all the cuts using a regular miter saw. I am in the process of looking at saws and wondering if it is beneficial to pay a little extra to get a compound miter saw rather than just a regular miter saw so i have the compound capability if ever needed? Since i wont ever be cutting roof rafters that intersect a hip, are there any DIY projects where I would possibly need a compound miter saw?
Thanks
